Application fee
Candidates must pay BGN 50.00/ € 25.56 application fee to be allowed to apply and BGN 50.00/ € 25.56 for each exam if there is more than one exam.
Foreign citizens of Bulgarian nationality, citizens of EU member countries, or of a country party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA), and of the Swiss Confederation, can apply for study in subsidized by the state and/or paid study programmes. All other foreign applicants apply to study under Art. 95, Para 8 of the Higher Education Act and pay tuition fees which, for state higher education institutions, are determined annually by the Council of Ministers in euros or the equivalent in levs according to the exchange rate 1,95583.
Information on the tuition fees will be published after the release of the decree of the Council of Ministers and the order of the Rector of Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski
Students pay the annual tuition fee in two instalments at the start of each semester; the first payment is due upon registration. People with dual citizenship, one of which is Bulgarian, pay half of the fee charged to international students when applying and are admitted according to the regulations for foreign citizens.
