Organizational Behavior and Counseling

  1. Focus, educational objectives

The master’s degree program in Organizational Behavior and Counseling is designed to prepare professionals to explore, analyze, diagnose and manage the organization and the behavior of its members. With regard to the content it includes various aspects of organizational management, such as organizational behavior, change management, organizational counseling, human resource management and development, organizational development, organizational culture, leadership and management skills, stress and health issues of work etc.

The master’s degree program in Organizational Behaviour and Counseling is composed of three semesters and is completed with a Master’s thesis defence. The educational process has a total number of 1380 credit hours from: mandatory lecture courses (765 academic hours), elective lecture courses (60 academic hours), mandatory seminars (300 academic hours), practical seminar (30 academic hours) and a Master’s thesis (225 academic hours). The master’s program provides a total of 92 credits (ECTS) equally allocated in three semesters. The total number of credits includes: 71 credits from mandatory courses + 4 credits from required elective courses + 2 credits from practical seminars + 15 credits from the Master’s thesis defence.

The minimum weekly workload of students is 24 hours, and each of the disciplines must end with a semester final examination within the envisaged three examination sessions. At the discretion of each lecturer, the examination can be combined with a coursework or a practical assignment. The third semester is designed for mastering the disciplines having a practical focus and for work related to writing the Master’s thesis. From the elective disciplines the students must choose 2 disciplines taught in different semesters (60 academic hours = 4 credits).  The master’s program ends with the defence of a Master’s thesis.  The Master’s thesis is theoretical and/or empirical research in a field of study chosen by the student, which is implemented under the guidance of a supervisor. The defence of the Master’s thesis is carried out after completion of the third semester before a state committee of habilitated lecturers.

The graduates of this master’s degree program acquire specialized knowledge of the essence, dynamics and development of organizational phenomena, as well as skills for their studying, diagnosing and evaluation. They acquire a Master’s degree and the right to work in all organizations in the public and private sectors as organizational consultants, specialists in organizational diagnostics and organizational development, human resources and recruitment managers, as well as to perform managerial functions related to the operation of public administration.

The curriculum of this master’s degree program is designed in compliance with the American and European standards and it includes academic disciplines which provide the necessary theoretical and practical preparation for obtaining of two types of licenses: a license for “industrial and organizational psychologist” and a license for “human resources manager”.
