The Master’s Programme in Cultural Studies in a Regional Context is a one-year interdisciplinary programme in English that provides specialisation in the sociocultural processes in Southeastern Europe. It aims to offer a deeper understanding of contemporary developments, and insights into historical trends and legacies in the region.
The programme combines a theoretical and a research-oriented approach which assures an intensive exposure to the cultural and broader socio-political transformations at a national, regional, and transregional level. It aims to integrate students in fieldwork and scientific teams and to stimulate their original research while providing them with solid interdisciplinary theoretical foundations and pragmatically grounded knowledge and skills.
The programme is intended to prepare experts in the field of social and cultural research, the creative and cultural sectors, the media, the government, civic or community sectors. The curriculum is designed to meet the needs of students preparing for doctoral programs, as well as persons entering professional careers or professionals who want to strengthen their regional expertise.
The programme comprises two semesters and 60 ECTS credits.
