Educational objectives:
The education in the Master’s program “Management of Digital Content” (MDC) aims to help students to:
- Acquire knowledge regarding the variety of electronic document types and the analytical techniques related to their processing;
- Become familiar with some of the technologies used for the creation, classification, preservation and distribution of information;
- Gain knowledge regarding the assesment of information resources;
- Gain skills for the effective use of the existing informational infrastructure;
- Become familiar with the models and methods of information services;
- Become familiar with content marketing and other contemporary models of digital trade;
- Become familiar with innovative methods for electronic publishing;
- Gain knowledge regarding the licensing and certification procedures related to digital information resources;
- Become familiar with modern technologies used for the creation of digital content;
Description
The education in the Master’s program “Management of Digital Content” (MDC) is done with accordance to current national and international requirements. The program is based on an inter-disciplinary approach and aims to prepare specialists for a new and fast developing field – the creation, distribution and analysis of electronic resources through computer networks such as the Internet. The program is focused on several scientific topics: information management, information and communication technologies (ICT), history of communication tools, museology and cultural policy. The program is organized on a modular basis, which achieves a balance between knowledge and skills related to educational objectives.
The program encompasses the processes of preparing electronic and online publications, content marketing and new business models for the distribution of digital content, as well as the content focus and structure of electronic information resources and the various ways to access to them. Students acquire key skills for:
- Working with full-text resources and extraction of information, required for their successful professional realization and/or education;
- Using various formats for the preparation of texts for digital publishing;
- Assessment and analysis of models for the preparation and dissemination of digital content;
- Organizing and participating in discussions, business meetings, presentation and other forms of professional communication;
Professional Skills
Students will acquire the professional competence to:
- Being able to creatively use acquired skills and promoting positive European and world-wide accepted practices in the spheres related to electronic content;
- Applying acquired knowledge for the preparation of high quality digital content for publishing in electronic and digital media;
- Analyzing and assessing new information technologies and electronic resources for the purposes of their application in publishing, library and business sectors;
- Developing and applying modern criteria for the assessment of digital information resources;
- Developing and using available standards and tools for the protection of digital content;
- Helping in the legal distribution of digital content;

Students who successfully complete the program will be prepared to work as:
- Managers of various organizations working the information business sphere, relating to the distribution of digital content, analysis of electronic information resources and provision of information services;
- Experts in information services and the application of information technologies in electronic and online media, as well as public administration;
- Consultants whose responsibilities include the analysis of information in various cultural and other public institutions, such as, but not limited to libraries, archives and museums;
